Mónica Cruz was born Mónica Cruz Sánchez to her parents, Encarna Sánchez, and Eduardo Cruz Sr, on March 16, 1977, in the Municipality of Alcobendas, Madrid in Spain. Penélope Cruz (born on April 28, 1974; 48 years old), and Eduardo Cruz (1985; 38 years old) are the names of her sister and brother, respectively, with whom she shares similar childhood experiences. Her sister, Penélope, is a film actress while her brother, Eduardo, is a singer and songwriter. Her father, Eduardo Cruz, was a local retailer, and auto mechanic. On the other hand, her mother, Encarna Sánchez, is a locally known hairdresser. She is the second child of her parents’ three children.And, well, her parents divorced each other in 1999, when she was about 22 years old. Less than half a decade after the divorce proceedings were concluded, Mónica’s father, Eduardo, remarried. He got married to Carmen Moreno in 2003, with whom he has a child named Salma Cruz (born on 24 February 2012; 10 years old).
On a rather sad note; Mónica’s father, Eduardo Cruz Sr., is dead. He died on June 18, 2015 (born in 1953; aged 62), in his residential home in Murcia, Spain. Reports say he suffered from heart illness, otherwise known as angina pectoris, in 2004, and was admitted to a hospital in Madrid following the medical complications. His heart illness was later managed, thus he continued living his normal life. However, he was readmitted in 2008 and 2012 after it persisted. Sadly, he lost to the disease in June 2015, eventually.
Other than her parents, and her two siblings, Mónica has a nephew, Leo Encinas Cruz, and niece, Luna Encinas Cruz from her elder sister’s marriage to Javier Bardem ​(married since 2010). Before her resignation, however, Cruz made an appearance in the 1999 movie, “The Girl of Your Dreams,” where she played the role of a choreographer. She was one of the members of the musical dance group, UPA Dance (2002 – 2004).
She made her official film and television debut appearance with the 2002-2005 movie, “The Girl of Your Dreams,” where she plays the role of Silvia Jáuregui in about eighty-one episodes. In the movie, she starred alongside Beatriz Luengo, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Silvia Marty, and Pablo Puyol.
Fun fact; her famous actress sister, Penélope Cruz, became pregnant in 2010 while filming scenes for the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” released in 2011.
