Leo Encinas Cruz was born Leonardo Encinas Cruz to Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz on January 12, 2011, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California State, in the United States of America. Although he was born in the US, he was raised in the capital city of Spain, Madrid with his younger sister, Luna Encinas Cruz. His mother, Pilar Bardem (1939–2021; aged 82), was a Spanish actress, while his father, José Carlos Encinas Doussinague (1931–1995; aged 64), was the son of a cattle rancher who died of leukemia when he was about 26 years old.
