Abby went to Princeton University and Boston University School of Law. She finished her law degree in 1979 and has taken a stand to challenge unfair laws since then. One of her biggest wins was in 1996, when she fought and won against a law in Tennessee that was unfair to gay people. Then in 2015, she played a significant role in a court case that made gay marriage legal all over the U.S.

She has been married to Helia Rethmann since 2008. Together they have two daughters, Lily and Sarah Alberts, and a stepdaughter, Laura Rethmann. She is a big fan of the Tennessee Titans. During her birthday on July 26, 2014, she dressed in drag with her friends to raise money for marriage equality.

Paul Reubens died from cancer when he was 70 years old on July 30, 2023, in a hospital in Los Angeles. He discovered he had cancer six years before but did not tell the public.
After he passed away, following instructions he left behind, a message that Reubens had written before he died was posted on his Instagram. The message read, “I’m sorry I didn’t share with you what I’ve been dealing with for the past six years. I’ve always felt so much love and respect from my friends, fans, and those who support me. I’ve loved creating fun things for all of you.“

At the time of his death, Paul did not have any children. He once revealed that he participated in an “impromptu mock wedding ceremony” with Chandi Heffner in 1989. He is survived by his siblings, Luke and Abby Rubenfeld.
