Daniel Gillies Biography
Daniel’s full name is Daniel Joshua Gillies. The famous actor was born on the 14 day of March 1976 in Winnipeg, Canada. He later moved to New Zealand with his family at the tender age of five.
His early childhood was in Invercargill and later in Hamilton, where he had his education at Hamilton Boys High School along with his three siblings. 
He was born into a family with a history in medical science. His great-great-great-grandfather, Sir Harold Delf Gillies, was the famed ENT and plastic surgeon and a confirmed pioneer. He is still known today as the father of modern-day plastic surgery.
Daneil’s great-great-great-grandfather, Sir Harold Gillies, was born in Dunedin, and his father was Robert Gillies, a political member of the New Zealand Parliament (1884 to 1885).
His father is a pediatrician and loves working with children, and his beloved mother is a nurse at a renowned hospital in Canada.

Daniel began his acting career with several roles in Auckland Theatre Company films. He later landed a recurring role in Street Legal, which he played for two seasons.
When he relocated to LA, he was cast for a role in the films Bride and Prejudice and Spider-Man 2.
Starting in 2002, Daniel began appearing in North American movies and TV shows such as NCIS, True Blood, and Masters of Horror.
In 2010, he was one of the most famous cast members of The Vampire Diaries, a CW series that was a huge hit in cinemas. He played the role of Elijah Mikaelson.

He said that his reason was due to some health and energy challenges he has and also that his two kids were okay, and he wanted to be able to give them all the care and affection they needed.
Then, after 16 years of marital bliss, Daniel and Rachel both decided to separate after they had made the announcement publicly on 13 June 2019 on their Instagram accounts. They made it as discreet as possible so that their kids wouldn’t be affected by the outcome.
