Late Conor Clapton Biography
Conor Clapton was born on August 21, 1986, at the St Mary’s Hospital, London. His mother was Lory Del Santo, an Italian actress and model, and a guitarist and songwriter Eric Clapton was his dad.
The duo never got married. Conor’s life was short-lived because of the tragic incident.
He was born into a family of wealth and grew up with so much care and love from his parents, grandparents ( Patricia Molly Clapton, Edward Walter Fryer, and Antonio Dei Santo), great-grandparents, cousins, and relatives.
What Caused Conor’s Death?
On March 20, 1991, in the early hours of the morning, Conor was with his mom, the Italian actress Lory del Santo, dressed in pajamas and slippers, playing in the New York City apartment where he lived with his mother.Â
After janitorial work was done in the flat, a window was left open, which caused him to fall to his death from the 53rd-floor house.Â
Meanwhile, Eric Clapton lodged at a nearby hotel; Clapton was getting ready to pick up Conor for their scheduled visit to the Central Park Zoo and dinner as a father and son getaway.
Eric Clapton said that during the 1992 interview with British writer Sue Lawley, Clapton recalled the first time he had a telephone call from their apartment, precisely, he was about to leave the hotel room to bring Conor lunch.Â
Lory was on the other end of the line, grieving while she broke the news to Conor’s father, Eric Clapton.
Connor’s Parents- Lory del Santo and Eric Clapton
The popular English songwriter, singer, and rock guitarist Eric Clapton and the Italian model, television personality, and actress Lory Del Santo had a top-profiled relationship in the 1990s.Â
Although Eric was still married to Pattie Boyd at that time, he was in love with the young actress Lory Del Santo. He cheated on Boyd multiple times, resulting in two children because they’d been trying unsuccessfully to conceive.
Conor Clapton with his parents in the water
In the 1990s, Eric Clapton was living in Italy, where he became friends with Corrado, Lory Del Santo’s brother. During one of their friendly meets, Corrado officially introduced his sister Lory to Eric Clapton.
The duo started a romantic relationship afterward.Â
Eric and Del Santo were frequently seen together at social gatherings, which made it obvious that they were very much in love.
Eric Clapton and Lory’s relationship is a peaceful and loving one because they both have mutual respect for each other. Eric was 45 years old when they met, while Lory had just turned 19.
They had a son named Conor, but things ended after the tragic death of their son in 1991.
When Eric was speaking on how he felt about the premature death of his Son Conor during an Interview with Sue Lawley in 1992, he said,
um, as a recovering alcoholic, my philosophy tells me that you know I’m that, uh, in a sense I was lucky to have, him because he got me sober. In one way, you know it was the reality of his existence that made me stopped drinking and taking drugs, and I spent four years with him as a sober human being and still am, and so what balances that out is gratitude for the fact that I had that time with him, and it would have been great to have had more, but who am I, you know.
Lory del Santo’s Children- Conor’s Sibling and Accident
Lory Del Santo has suffered many tragedies. One would be curious to think what her crime was. The old lady has lost not one but three of her children to terrible situations.
The first tragedy was in March 1991 when her four-year-old son Conor fell from the 53rd-floor apartment in New York. The housekeeper had left the apartment window open, leading to his fall.
Lory reveals that in the 1990s, she had lost a baby two weeks after he was born prematurely to an infection.
In 2018, her 19-year-old son Loren committed suicide due to his brain damage. He had suffered from a sickness called Anhedonia, an intense mental disorder that causes incapacity to feel satisfied in usual pleasurable activities.
