Bob Odenkirk Biography
Bob Odenkirk’s life story starts in a place called Berwyn, Illinois, where he was born on October 22, 1962. He grew up in Naperville with six siblings.
His dad “Walter Henry Odenkirk” worked in the printing business, and his mom “Barbara Mary Odenkirk” was of German and Irish descent. But their marriage didn’t work out because of his dad’s struggles with alcohol.
This was tough for Bob, and he decided to stay away from alcohol as much as possible. He described his dad as distant and not really present in his life.
Bob didn’t like growing up in Naperville. He found it a bit boring, and he couldn’t wait to move to a big city where exciting things were happening. Sadly, his dad passed away because of bone cancer in 1986.

As for school, Bob went to Naperville North High School, and he graduated when he was just 16. He left school early because he didn’t want to be in high school anymore.
He thought he’d be too awkward in college, so he went to the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

On July 27, 2021, Bob Odenkirk had a health scare. He had what he called a “small heart attack” while working on the set of the TV show “Better Call Saul” in Albuquerque. It was a really scary moment for him.
Thankfully, just three days later, on July 30, Bob told everyone that he was going to be okay and come back soon. That’s a relief!
Later, in 2022, Bob shared more about what happened. He had to get two stents put into his heart arteries because they were getting clogged with gunk.
He had known about this problem since 2018. It turns out his heart trouble was more serious than he thought.
His heart even stopped beating, and doctors had to use special machines to get it started again. That must have been really tough, but he’s a fighter, and he’s doing better now.
