Nosa is into the sales of building materials. Nosa was doing well for himself.
One day he rushed out of the house very early. He didn’t join the family devotion or eat breakfast. He told his wife he had to rush to the shop to meet an important customer. On getting to his business place, he met a young man waiting for him. He had really never met him before. By the time Nosa spoke with him, he liked him. Obiwale was smart and intelligent and that’s what Nosa liked about him.
“When the sales girl called me, I thought it was a customer but now I know better” He said laughing.
“I came for business. Most of the shops here, I supply them goods at cheaper rates”
Obiwale began to mention businessmen he had done business with. Nosa nodded because he knew the people Obiwale mentioned.
“And they are making it big time”
They talked for a long time exchanging business ideas and Nosa really liked the guy. Nosa thought about what Obiwale told him and four days later he called him on the phone.
“I don’t have much with me now. Give me one month to gather enough money”
“Alright, call me when you are ready”
Nosa checked what he had in the account. It was not enough for the business venture. He told Itohan he needed money into his business.
“But I gave you three million naira seven months ago na.
“I know. This is a business opportunity Itohan and I don’t want it to pass me by”
Itohan wasn’t consenting to his request.
“This is a rented apartment and there is nothing wrong if we start planning for our own. Last night I told you I have N4m and I pleaded that you should add N1m to it so that we can purchase the land we went to check the other time”
“I know”
“Now you are asking me for 2 million”
“Listen Itohan, by the time this business succeeds. I will make money that you never imagined”
“You have goods in your shop. More goods are in the warehouse. I won’t release that money”
Itohan refused to release any money. Nosa became angry.
When she greets him, he never responds. Most times, he never eats her food. The opportunity arose and he took her ATM card and borrowed her phone. He told her he took his phone for repair and he wouldn’t want to miss business opportunities. Itohan quickly gave him her phone.
Everyday, he would withdraw large amount of money and delete the notification. Itohan never suspected that her money was being withdrawn. For three weeks he withdrew more than a million without her knowledge.
Happy with his achievement, he returned the phone and thanked her. Even though he had succeeded in withdrawing her money, he was still not eating her food. He was angry with her for refusing to give him the money willingly.
“After all, I promised to give her back” He mused.
During devotion, he would not come out. When Itohan call for night prayers, he would tell her to pray.
“I will pray later” He would tell her.
Itohan who cannot bear the thought that her husband was unhappy with her, could not sleep.
She woke him up one night and told him to be patient with her.
“I want us to pray about it. I no want make you dey vex for me. Abeg, I told you when we moved here that our next plan would be to acquire a land and start building. I no want make we dey distracted. I know sey your business dey important. Land is expensive here and this one is cheap compare to others we have seen. If I give you the 2 million, na where I go get money…”
“But I told you I will return it as soon as the business succeeds”
“Hmmm!. By that time the land would have been sold. I told the owner next month. This is because I thought you would add to it”
“What are you saying Itohan”
“I am saying that i don’t want to make any mistake. Give me till Friday to pray about it. If God sey make I give you, nothing go stop me not to give you”
“Alright”
He smiled to himself because the money was already sitting in his account.
“Land will come later. This business is more important. I will channel whatever profit I make to buy a house of my choice” he thought in his heart. But I did wrong by collectinG her money.
The next morning, Nosa brought out his phone and started calculating the profit he will make if he ventures into the business idea obiwale brought.
Smiling broadly, he dropped the phone on the chair beside him and closed his eyes in fantasy.

Nicole didn’t know that Ade was still in contact with Sebastian after the last time they spoke.
It was a big surprise when the date for their marriage was fixed and announced in the church. Both of them were brought out for prayers. She joined others to pray for them. After service,
Adenike didn’t return home with her but went with him. She returned in the evening with nylons full of goodies.
Nicole could see the excitement on her face as she dropped the nylons on the table.
“I had fun today oo” She said laughing.
She brought out some snacks from the nylon and started opening them. Then she took out a gown and raised it.
“This is beautiful” Nicole said checking it out. It was a red gown.
Ade smiled from ear to ear.
Sebastian bought it for me.
“You surprised me today. You couldn’t even tell me that your wedding date has been fixed”
“Ooh I am sorry” She said rolling her eyes.
“You are not in my shoe. If you were, you will know how excited I am” She said carelessly
“I know how you feel Nicole, but don’t worry…” She scooped an ice cream she opened into her mouth.
Men are not easy to come by these days. Thank God Sebastian came for me. Ade told her.
I don’t want any how men. I want the one God has ordained for me. I don’t want to make mistakes.
Ade looked at her and frown. You will wait in vain. No wonder you have not gotten married.
Nicole pinched herself to know whether that comment was made to her. She tries to blink back tears. She quickly excused herself and went to her room.
Nicole sat before the mirror and wept. She looked carefully at her image and murmured.
“Nothing is wrong with me. My face is not wrinkled yet” She said touching her face.
She sat on that chair for long. Nicole did not return to the sitting room to watch her favourite programme neither did she bother for supper. She brought out her bible and began to study. She decided to hold on to God’s promises.
That night she dreamt that Eghosa held her hand and was taking her to the altar. When she woke, she laughed hilariously.
“How possible?. What a dream”
She brought out her phone and started scrolling for Eghosa’s number but couldn’t find it. Then it dawned on her that his number was in the other phone and sim she lost. She became sad. She searched for his name on Facebook but so many Eghosa Osahon popped up and didn’t know where to start searching from.
She gave up the search. Her conscience pricked her for not giving a thought to the man who took it upon himself to stand by her.
“I could have asked for his address and phone number. How did it escaped me that I didn’t have his contact information. I could have tried to know more about him” She lamented.
