Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 6
Nicole travelled to Benin for two reasons. To attend her younger sister,s marriage and also to seek her mother’s advise concerning an issue.
She woke up very early, but refused to leave the bed immediately. She peeped through the window and noticed that some women were already cooking, and some boys were setting canopies and arranging chairs.
“If it was not God, I wouldn’t have made it alive” She told herself.
She remembered all that happened on the way and sighed deeply. She left the bed and to the sitting room where everyone was busy. She located her parents and greeted. She rushed to her sisters room but she was still sleeping. Laughing, she woke her up. Rachael stretched noisily on the bed, then sat up.
“So you came” She said hugging Nicole.
“I waited for you yesterday. I called your line but it was switched off” She said.
Nicole smiled and narrated the event that made her come late.
“When I got here you were sleeping, knowing you have a long day today, I had to let you sleep”
“Aaah! Thank God oo”
“It’s alright” She hugged her again and hurried her out of the bed.
“Go and take care of yourself before the makeup artist arrives”
Rachel stood up and entered the bathroom. Nicole left her sisters room and went outside. She greeted and thanked everyone helping out in the different chores. She was excited because it was an important day for her sister. Walking gallantly, she stood before Eghosa who was busy washing her car.
“Good morning Eghosa”
“Aah! Good morning Boss. Did you sleep well?”
“I did” She said smiling.
She went round the car carefully and returned to where she stood before.
“Making it alive to my parents house was a miracle, I was frightened” She told him “I noticed you were not afraid”
Eghosa looked at her and smiled.
“I was not afraid because I have already entrusted my life to Jesus. I trust him to deliver me always”.
“Hmmm!”
“Yes boss, he loves me and you and he proved it. He didn’t allow our lives to be wasted. His love will change you and give you confidence”.
Nicole listened but only nodded.
“Excuse me Boss, it is very risky not to commit your day and activities into God’s hands.
“I don’t get it!” She said frowning.
“Today is your sister’s marriage ”
“Yes”
“Is it not proper, that as a family, you should commit today into God’s hands. You and I don’t know the next second or minute , but He does.
“I don’t have time for this” She told him.
Eghosa resumed cleaning the car while she returned to the house.

Rachael’s bride price had been paid. She was ushered with dancing out of the house to sit under a canopy decorated purposely for her and her husband. Nicole danced along with others when suddenly there was commotion. She could see an elderly man bragging and beating his chest. In order not to distract the bride and bridegroom, she moved fast to the gate.
“What do you want?, Why are you causing confusion here?
“Dem no pay me money” the man said in pidgin English.
“Who dey owe you?” She asked.
“Your papa” He said.
“My father?”
“Yes! Your papa”
“How much?”
“20k”
Nicole walked back and confronted her father who followed her to the gate.
“Which time I take owe you money” Nicole’s father asked.
The man laughed baring his stained teeth.
“You dey do like sey you nor no wetin you suppose do. Your pikin dey marry and you suppose give me drink and N20k to hold hand. I go make this rain fall now now. I go spoil this marriage oo” He threatened.
“Alright, wait make I bring money”
Eghosa who had watched all along, stepped in.
“Baba, don’t give him one naira” He said and faced the rain maker.
“With all due respect, this family owe you nothing. You should be celebrating with this family. God is the only authority I recognize and I tell you today that there shall be no rain until everyone leaves here. Infact, there shall be no rain today. I mean this particular day” He told the surprised man. Not even a single drop.
Few people began to express fear.
“This man go scatter this place with rain oo”
Eghosa nudged Nicole and his father to return to the occasion. The rain maker was angry. He felt insulted and so he began to make incantations. Eghosa began to pray silently within him.
“Infact, the rain will fall on you” Eghosa warned.
Suddenly, there was lightning and thunder. The cloud began to darken. Nicole rushed to Eghosa.
“I am giving him his demand. I won’t stay here and watch him spoil this beautiful gathering”.
“If only you will trust God Boss. If you are giving into his demand, fine. No problem but I tell you today, this marriage will go on uninterrupted “.
Nicole rushed in to get money. As she approached the man, rain started falling. Surprisingly, the rain fell only on the man. He rushed out of the gate, but the rain fell only on him. Some people rushed outside the compound to see the man running into his house.
“Who are you?” Nicole asked.
“Eghosa”
“I mean, not your name”
“I am a child of God”
She looked at him for sometime before joining others. Eghosa looked at her and smiled.
“Those that know their God shall do exploit” He said and sat down to enjoy the marriage ceremony.

The heavy knock on the door jolted Nosa and his family. Itohan opened the door to meet the landlord and some boys standing outside. She greeted but no response. He pushed her aside and entered with the boys.
“Throw their things outside” He ordered the boys.
Immediately, they went to work. Itohan held the landlord’s clothes begging and crying.
“Where you want make I go this night” She asked the landlord
“Ask your husband wey no be man enough ”
Even the chair Nosa sat was carried out. The landlord waited until everything was taken outside. He padlocked the door and left with the boys. Neighbours came out and sympathized with them. There was nothing they could do to help.
“Na wetin we go do?” Itohan asked
“I just confuse, I nor no wetin to do sef”.
Itohan rushed out of the compound straight to Uyi’s house. Uyi’s wife opened the door and noticed Itohan was crying.
“Landlord don throwey our load for outside”
“This night” She asked
“My children and husband dey outside”
“Aaah!” She said placing her hand on her head.
She called her husband who rushed to the sitting room.

“Oya no cry again. Go bring the children make una sleep here. Tomorrow, I go use motor pack una things. We go put them for store”
Itohan thanked him and rushed back. True to his word, Uyi paid a van to bring their properties to his house. Uyi moved his kids to his room so that Nosa and his family stayed there. They were practically handicapped. Nosa was not working and Itohan stopped her business. They all depended on Uyi for their daily bread.
