Why Liverpool will miss top 4- William Gallas

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas has revealed two main reasons why he believes Liverpool will not finish in the Premier League top four this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s were of course for an unprecedented quadruple last term but ended up having to settle for both domestic cups as they finsihed runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League and lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Under Klopp, the Reds have finished in the top four of the league for the last six seasons. Indeed, they even claimed their first top-flight title success in 30 years in the 2019-20 campaign.

The Anfield outfit also finished second in 2018-19, third in 2020-21 and fourth in 2016-17 and 2017-18 – during Klopp’s early days.

But despite all their recent success, Gallas is not confident Liverpool will make the Champions League spots again.

Klopp‘s men started the new campaign with a shock 2-2 draw at Fulham. And Gallas has cited two reasons, one from that game, that means they will miss out on the top four.

“‘As an ex-London player, I have to say Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham to win the Premier League,” Gallas told Genting Casino.

“On top four, Liverpool can miss out because they don’t have Sadio Mane anymore. And Luis Diaz does not have the same impact.

“Liverpool always concede goals too, like we saw against Fulham. Even if I like how Liverpool play, I think it will be City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.”

The Reds are back in Premier League action on Monday night when they host Crystal Palace.
