Vilakazi ends 6-year Sundowns stay to sign for Galaxy

TS Galaxy have confirmed signing former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi.

News of the 32-year-old Vilakazi’s signing was confirmed by the clubs Twitter account but no details were given about the contract.

Vilakazi joined Sundowns in 2016 from Bidvest Wits and spent six highly-successful years at the Brazilians, winning five league titles, the 2016 CAF Champions League, two Nedbank Cups, Telkom KnockOut and the MTN8 titles.

In the 2013/14 season, while playing for BidVest Wits, the midfielder won the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Footballer of the Season award.

In June 2022, Sundowns released Vilakazi electing not to renew his contract, largely due to the Bafana Bafana international only making 21 appearances over the last two years for the club.
