Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has admitted that he is uncertain over the future of attacker, Cole Palmer after his side’s UEFA Super Cup final win over Sevilla on Wednesday night.
Palmer has enjoyed a successful start to the new season, scoring in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, before netting the equaliser against Sevilla, as Man City lifted the UEFA Super Cup after penalty shootout.
The 21-year-old netted after 63 minutes with a clever header, appearing to give Guardiola another reason to give him a regular chance in the first-team this season.
Despite this, Palmer has been the subject of speculation this summer, with the likes of Brighton and West Ham among those said to be keeping tabs on him.
Speaking to reporters after Man City defeated Sevilla in the Super Cup final, Guardiola admitted that he didn’t know where Palmer’s future lies.
He said, “The opinion I had when he arrived is he wanted to leave, but now I don’t know what is going to happen.
“I don’t think a loan is going to happen. He is going to stay or be sold, but I think a loan is not going to happen.”
Guardiola continued: “I understand he wants to be more active than the previous season. But Riyad [Mahrez] has gone so we have one more place there.”
