Manchester United have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their UEFA Champions League group stage tie with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in Germany.
The Red Devils confirmed in a statement via its website on Monday that defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining an injury during the closing stages of their Premier League defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
Wan-Bissaka came on as an 85th-minute substitute, having started the game against Brighton on the bench after battling illness during the week.
Further assessment will be needed to determine how long the right-back Wan-Bissaka will be out of action for Erik ten Hag’s side.
However, initial indications suggest Wan-Bissaka will be out for several weeks.
Man United are in Group A in the Champions League alongside Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
