Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Eduardo Camavinga and Lucas Vazquez both suffered injuries during Wednesday night’s Supercopa de Espana semi-final win over Valencia.

Eder Militao was also the subject of concern after coming off due to dizziness just over 15 minutes before the end of normal time but was already feeling better by the time his Los Blancos teammates had won the tie on penalties.

With Aurelien Tchouameni already ruled out, Camavinga had been given the nod in midfield ahead of the veteran Luka Modric. But it didn’t go the way the young Frenchman would have been hoping and he could only manage the first half.

Vazquez started at right-back but had to come after little more than an hour.

“Lucas Vazquez has a sprained ankle. Camavinga has a blow to the knee and Militao has dizziness, but he’s better now,” Ancelotti explained afterwards.

“Lucas has something, Camavinga I don’t know,” he added.

Although Militao appears to be okay, it puts both Vazquez and Camavinga in doubt for the Supercopa final against either Barcelona or Real Betis on Sunday.

Ancelotti didn’t really want to have to use Carvajal or indeed Ferland Mendy, who was the player to replace Militao, because of existing concerns.

Reflecting on the game generally, the boss said, “Suffering…complicated game. A tie is never easy. The end of the game has been good, better. The team is not at its best. You have to improve little by little, suffering, but always present on the field and competing. There is no easy match in football. The rivals are well organised. The important thing is to win.”
