New Genk manager, Wouter Vrancken has heaped plaudits on Forward, Cyriel Dessers for his positive impact since his return to the club for pre-season training.
Dessers spent last season on loan at Eredivisie outfit, Feyenoord Rotterdam last season.
The 27-year-old played a prominent role in Feyenoord’s UEFA Europa Conference League run last season.
The striker scored 10 goals in 12 appearances for Arne Slot’s side in the competition.
He was also included in the Europa Conference League Team of the Season.
“He came in here the right way,” Vrancken told HLN.
“Cyriel is Cyriel, he confirms the positive stories I’ve heard about him. You will have no problems with him in terms of mentality.”
“Obviously I hope he stays. I haven’t specifically talked to him about the future yet, but the intention is to do so today or tomorrow.”
Dessers is still expected to leave the Smurfs with the club expected to sell him for around €4.5m.
