Moses on target as Spartak Moscow hold Akhmat Grozny

Former Super Eagles ace Victor Moses was on target  as Spartak Moscow held Akhmat Grozny to a draw at the Akhmat Arena on Saturday.  The Nigeria international who breezed into the game as late substitute for  home boy

Anton Zinkovskiy in the 78th minute, hit target after just five minutes of action. The homers had shot into the lead in the added time of the first half thanks to Artem Timofeev to the delight of Akhmat Grozny coach Andrey Talalaev who was hoping the result remained that way to the end to earn his a club three points.

That was however not to as Moses leveled up in the 83rd minute and every effort by the host team to increase the tally hit the rocks as Moses and his teammates held tenaciously to their equaliser.

it was however not a smooth sailing game as  49 year referee Vladislav Bezborodov was forced to flash eleven yellow cards with a red card that went to  Spartak Moscow’s Polish import Maciej Rybus just before end of first half.

Despite the ongoing Ukraine and Russian war, the Russian league has hit the ground running with the flag off of the new season.

Moses who last played for  Nigeria at the last World cup in Russia joined the Russian side from Chelsea in 2021 ending his nine year romance with the London club.

Spartak announced on the same day that he signed a two-year contract with the club. On 10 February 2022, Moses extended his contract with Spartak to 2024. Moses won the 2021-22 Russian Cup with his club on 29 May in a 2-1 Old Russian Derby victory over Dynamo Moscow.
