Chelsea – and former Brighton boss Graham Potter – are incredibly keen on the Ecuador international but have already seen an initial enquiry knocked back, with sources confirming to 90min that Brighton have no desire to part ways with Caicedo.

The Seagulls are sixth in the Premier League, ahead of most of the sides interested in Caicedo. With life at Brighton going pretty well right now, the midfielder insisted he remains solely focused on his current club.

ā€œI am focused on Brighton,ā€ he told club media. ā€œI am here, Iā€™m playing every day. Things from outside donā€™t trouble me, nor does it take that focus away because Iā€™m focussed only on here.

ā€œI handle [the speculation] well. You hear rumours here and there, but I only try to be focused on the club where I am now, the club which opened the doors for me to be playing every week.ā€

Caicedo went on to express his gratitude towards current Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, whose tactics have earned him plenty of praise since his move to the AMEX.

ā€œWe are getting better all the time. Thereā€™s an evolution with every match ā€“ we all understand each other better. The coach is giving us that confidence to always do things well on the pitch,” Caicedo continued.

ā€œRoberto [De Zerbi] has really helped me in bringing the ball out from the back and I think I have learned it well, I enjoy playing the ball out from the back. We do it well, coming out from deep positions. It is his preferred system and Iā€™m enjoying it.ā€
