Juventus manager Max Allegri has provided a positive update on Paul Pogba’s fitness, stating that the midfielder could be back with the squad in the next three weeks.
Pogba has missed the entirety of the 2022/23 Serie A season thus far with a knee injury suffered in his first pre-season game since returning to Juventus in the summer. The problem eventually required Pogba to have surgery, meaning he missed out on France’s 2022 World Cup campaign to boot.
Since suffering said injury, the French midfielder has had a number of setbacks in his recovery, forcing the player to wait until the new year before he could even start running.
Ahead of Juventus’ first game of 2023 however, manager Allegri finally provided some good news regarding Pogba’s fitness, telling the press: “Pogba is running and his knee doesn’t bother him. If he proceeds like this in 15-20 days he can be with the team, but it all depends on the evolution.”
As well as giving an update on Pogba, Allegri also discussed Dusan Vlahovic’s availability. The striker has dealt with a groin issue in recent months and, according to Allegri, the Serbian will be back available soon.
“Vlahovic is better, I hope to have everyone available by the end of the month. Tomorrow, however, with those that have returned, we are ready,” he added.
