Kylian Mbappe has criticised Paris Saint-Germain for using his image in a video promoting the sale of season tickets for the 2023/24 season.

A video released by PSG on Wednesday includes parts of an interview conducted with Mbappe which he says he did not know would be used to market matches for next season.

He posted on social media: “I’ve just taken part in the season ticketing campaign of the club for 2023-24.

“At no moment was I informed of the content of the interview…it looked like a basic interview at a club marketing day.

“I do not agree with the video that was published. This is why I am fighting for individual image rights. PSG is a great club and a great family, but it is certainly not Kylian Saint-Germain.”

The France captain refused to take part in a Les Bleus photoshoot last year, forcing the French Football Federation into saying it would review its stance on image rights.

Tensions are already high at PSG this season due to their latest failure in the Champions League and consecutive losses in Ligue 1, so this sideshow comes at a poor time.

The Athletic report PSG held a call with Mbappe’s representatives to clear up any miscommunication, but it still remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will be included in the squad to face Nice on Saturday.

If the altercation results in Mbappe missing out, he would be another absentee for manager Christophe Galtier to deal with.

Neymar and Presnel Kimpembe won’t play again this season due to injuries, while Sergio Ramos and Marco Verratti may not be fit in time for the weekend.

Looking ahead to the transfer window, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently said the club would aim to keep hold of both Mbappe and Lionel Messi, though 90min understands the latter is unlikely to pen an extension in Paris.
