Kylian Mbappe is ready to give up on a huge loyalty bonus in his Paris Saint-Germain contract, but he has again made clear to the club that he won’t sign a new deal, sources have told 90min.

Mbappe decided this summer that he would not be exercising his side of a mutual option to extend his current contract to 2025. Now, he is on course to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The Frenchman’s decision was met with fury by PSG, to the point where he was banished him from the first-team whilst the club tried to sell to the highest bidder. PSG accepted a world record transfer offer from Al Hilal worth €300m (£259m) – but he did not even talk to the Saudi Pro League side.

Mbappe’s stance has always been that he wanted to play out this season with PSG before leaving, but the French giants have insisted they did not want to lose him on a free transfer.

90min understands that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi even told Mbappe he would not wear a PSG shirt again during talks with his mother and agent Fayza Lamari.

However, in recent weeks, as it became increasingly apparent that Mbappe would not be leaving this summer with long-term admirers Real Madrid not making an offer, more talks have taken place.

90min understands that PSG have continued their push for Mbappe to sign a new deal, potentially including a release clause that would allow his future departure for a set fee. But that is not believed to be under consideration.

However, sources suggest that Mbappe has agreed to waive an €80m bonus that he is due over the course of this season, which would actually mean a saving of €100m for PSG.

With Mbappe also now back in th fold on the pitch, Al-Khelaifi is again full of praise for his star forward: “Kylian Mbappe is an incredible player and a fantastic person. And the PSG team, on and off the pitch, has never been so united.”

But with the player still insistent that he won’t sign a new contract, his time in Paris is winding down.
