Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong will soon be on his way to Manchester, his fiancee Mikky Kiemeney has confirmed.
The Dutchman was heavily pursued by Manchester United last summer at the request of new manager Erik ten Hag, who worked with the midfielder at Ajax.
A deal never materialised and while United were able to bring in Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, De Jong remains on their radar moving forward.
With a move to United some day still in play, fans asked Kiemeney in an Instagram Q&A when De Jong will be heading to Manchester.
She gave a genuine response, revealing that he will be there on 23 February – the day that Barcelona take on United at Old Trafford in the second leg of their Europa League knockout round play-off.
Barcelona host United in the first leg one week prior at Camp Nou in the two sides’ first meeting since their Champions League quarter-final in 2019.
An own goal from Luke Shaw had given Barça a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Manchester, before triumphing 3-0 back on home soil to seal their passage to the semi-finals. A brace from Lionel Messi was followed by a strike from former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
