Frank Lampard reveals thoughts on Chelsea predecessor Graham Potter

Chelsea caretaker manager Frank Lampard was quick to praise former boss Graham Potter following his surprise return to Stamford Bridge.

Potter was given his marching orders by the Blues last weekend after they dropped to 11th in the Premier League table, compounding a rather miserable first season under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s ownership.

Bruno Saltor was initially drafted in as the interim manager, but 90min revealed earlier this week he wanted to stick by Potter and so Lampard was sought as a short-term replacement.

The former England midfielder gave a press conference on Thursday, speaking glowingly of Potter.

“I want to say credit to Graham Potter who I don’t know that well but everything I see about him he’s a good man, and a very good coach, and sometimes maybe for whatever reason things don’t align, don’t work, whatever, I’ve been in that situation personally,” Lampard said.

“So there’s nothing that I will do looking backwards other than things that can help us with a view to moving forwards. But I’ll obviously have my own ideas.”
