Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that he is already looking forward to his next dinner with legendary former boss Sir Alex Ferguson and the pair were spotted out sharing a meal together ahead of Thursday’s huge clash against Barcelona.
Ferguson has won more trophies than any other manager in football history – including a record 13 Premier League titles – and United have struggled to even get close to that kind of success since he retired aged 71 a decade ago.
A string of coaches have tried and failed for various different reasons, but Ten Hag has had a transformative impact on United since arriving in May and looks to be taking the club back into a position from which they can soon compete for major honours again.
Ferguson has remained a presence at Old Trafford since stepping down from managerial duties, moving upstairs to take a seat as a director on the football club board. And now it seems that Ten Hag has welcomed the opportunity to tap into his unrivalled expertise.
“I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience. He wants to share it; he wants to help and support,” said Ten Hag.
“You feel Manchester United is his club. He feels so committed and he wants that we are doing well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.”
Discussing the game against Barcelona, which is winners takes all after a 2-2 draw in the first leg at Camp Nou, Ten Hag insisted United will only have a chance if they play at their best.
