Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that Jadon Sancho is back training at the club’s Carrington complex, but is not yet ready to rejoin first-team sessions.
Sancho has not played for United since their 1-1 draw at Chelsea in October and he missed the club’s warm weather training camp earlier this winter, with Ten Hag admitting the winger has been struggling ‘physically and mentally’.
The England international was sent to the Netherlands for an individual training programme, and while he is now back in Manchester, Ten Hag was reluctant to give a timeframe on his return to action.
“The time is not now [for him to return to the squad] but he is making progress,” he said. “We will see when he is ready to return into the squad.
“He’s back in Manchester, he will start individual training.”
After being heavily courted by United throughout 2020, Sancho finally made the move to Old Trafford the following year for a fee in the region of £73m.
However, he has yet to reach the same heights as he did with Borussia Dortmund, scoring just eight goals in 52 games for the Red Devils so far.
While teammate Marcus Rashford worked his way back into the England squad for the 2022 World Cup, Sancho was not named in Gareth Southgate’s 26-player cohort.
