Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has called on the Gunners to join forces with two other clubs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to stop Manchester City from winning the Premier League title this season.
Wright believes it would take a ‘collective effort’ from Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham to stop Manchester City from retaining the Premier League title this term.
Recall that Mikel Arteta’s side were close to securing their first Premier League trophy since 2004 last season
But a late capitulation saw Man City come out on top again.
“What I liked about Wolves’ win over Man City is that it shows in this league… if you are not quite right, you will get beat,” Wright told The Kelly & Wrighty Show.
“They had a game plan and we know what it is: Man City will attack you, and you have to take your chances when they come. Even when Wolves went down to 1-1, they still went for them.
“That is what you have to do with Man City. The whole league needs to do that with Man City, to keep them under that pressure.
“It has to be a collective effort to slow Man City down, so Arsenal can hopefully win [the league].
“The top teams – Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool – they have to get something off them.
“When you think about those teams chasing Man City and then you hear they’ve got Wolves, naturally in your mind you are putting it down that they will win that game.
“So when you see teams like Wolves putting Man City under pressure and beating them, it gives you more energy.
“If Arsenal are going to win the league, or Tottenham or Liverpool, at some stage you are going to have to beat them at least once. They are capable of being beaten, we see that every season. It is up to us now.”
