Manchester United chiefs Richard Arnold and John Murtough have arrived in Barcelona and are trying to get a deal wrapped up for Frenkie de Jong.
United have been in talks with the Catalans for weeks over De Jong, who is manager Erik ten Hag’s top summer transfer target.
While an initial fee of £56million has reportedly been agreed, the transfer appears to be some way off being completed, with Barca still owing the player £17m in deferred wages.
United are still confident de Jong wants to join them this summer and have sent their big guns to Barcelona to try and get the deal done this week.
On Monday afternoon, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero shared footage of United’s CEO Arnold and director of football Murtough outside a restaurant in the city.
Romero claimed the pair have met with Barcelona officials Jordi Cruyff, Rafa Yuste and Mateu Alemany.
