The Red Devils were one of the tournament’s biggest disappointments, exiting at the group stage after picking up just four points in three games – their only win came against underdogs Canada in a match dominated by Les Rouges.

Roberto Martinez announced that he would be stepping down from his role as manager, and now stalwart forward Hazard has confirmed his retirement from international duty.

“A page turns today,” Hazard said in a statement on Instagram. “Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unmatched support. Thanks for all the happiness shared since 2008.

“[I have] decided to end my international career. The succession is ready. I will miss you guys… A page turns today… Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support.
