Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Djed Spence has joined Rennes on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
The right-back signed for Spurs back in the summer from Middlesbrough after playing a key role on loan at Nottingham Forest during their promotion-winning 2021/22 campaign.
However, the writing appeared to be on the wall for the youngster soon after he arrived, with head coach Antonio Conte continually claiming he was a ‘club signing’.
Spence has only played 41 minutes in a Tottenham shirt and the north London club granted him permission to leave on a straight loan this month.
While several Premier League sides were interested in a deal, Spence instead opted to join French side Rennes, who also have Spurs centre-back Joe Rodon on loan.
Spence’s loan to Rennes does not include a purchase clause and he is set to return to Tottenham in the summer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will confirm the signing of Pedro Porro later on deadline day, while fellow right-back Matt Doherty will join Atletico Madrid on loan.
