The agent of teenage striker David Datro Fofana has revealed that his client opted to sign for Chelsea in part due to their new commitment to signing the world’s best young talent.
The Blues confirmed earlier this week that the Ivorian will officially join from Molde, where he scored 22 goals in 39 games last season, once the January transfer window opens on Sunday.
Chelsea have been embarking on ‘Vision 2030’, a project committed to developing and signing the best youngsters in football, with Fofana believed to fit the bill.
Speaking to VG, Fofana’s agent Atta Aneke confirmed that this commitment made the move a ‘dream’ for the striker.
“It is a dream, after all. I will admit that Chelsea is a big step for him now, but when such opportunities arise for a young player with such crazy potential as he has, you just have to take the chance,” Aneke said.
“Chelsea want to sign the best young talents in the world, it’s clear – for David, it was a dream. Chelsea have a very clear plan on how to make them succeed, they want to proceed with top talents as best as possible.”
Though ‘Vision 2030’ was an initiative which began during Roman Abramovich’s tenure, Todd Boehly has sought to continue it since taking co-control of the club earlier this year.
Chelsea previously signed the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Gabriel Slonina, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka during the summer 2022 window.
