Brighton & Hove Albion could treble their money on Marc Cucurella after slapping a hefty price-tag on the Manchester City target.

Talks have started between the two clubs over the player after City reached an agreement to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal. The Premier League champions are understood to have had an offer close to £30million rejected already.

It comes after Brighton reportedly slapped a whopping £50m price-tag on the Spaniard following his stellar first season in the Premier League.

That would mean Brighton stand to make a huge profit on the full-back, who they bought for just £14m, if City decide to follow through by splashing out this summer.

City are in need of a natural left-back in light of Zinchenko’s departure, with Nathan Ake and Joao Cancelo preferring other positions. But they will have to spend a sizeable fee on the 23-year-old if they are to convince Brighton to part ways.

Negotiations are still in the initial stages with more talks expected to come in the coming days.

The Athletic claim Brighton view Cucurella as one of their standout stars and are not in any rush to sell the defender for below their asking price.

Cucurella featured 38 times for the Seagulls last campaign, registering one goal and two assists.

Yet City are not willing to meet Brighton’s valuation, deeming £50m too expensive for a player who is yet to prove himself at an elite level.
