Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot is reportedly demanding wages of up to €10 million-per-year – which works out at just less than €200,000-per-week.

United have been in contact with Juventus regarding a transfer for the midfielder, who has one year remaining on his contract.

It’s believed a deal of €20 million is close and all that’s left is for United to agree terms with Rabiot and his agent.

Carlo Laudisa of Gazzetta dello Sport claims Rabiot wants a three-year contract with a weekly wage of around €192,000-per-week.

The France international’s mother, Veronique, serves as his agent and she’s said she will only speak with director of football John Murtough about the deal.

Rabiot signed a four-year deal with Juventus back in 2019 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free and earns roughly €7 million a year, which is €113,000-per-week.

The 27-year-old is seen as an upgrade for United’s midfield, with was dominated in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Scott McTominay and Fred started but struggled, with Fred being substituted just after halftime.

Rabiot is expected to replace McTominay in the starting XI and he’s already spoken with United manager Erik ten Hag.

A deal can be completed alongside one for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, who United have been interested in since May.

United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Rabiot can bring some quality to the United midfield but concedes it’s a step down from de Jong.

He told Vibe with Five: “They’ve been waiting for the Frenkie de Jong situation to change and it hasn’t so this is a reactive signing.

“They thought they were getting Frenkie de Jong, ‘No, we ain’t getting him, we better go for someone else, who’s available?’ And it’s not always the best case scenario when that happens.

“I think it will be a risk. I don’t see the fee being much more than £20 million, in today’s market it’s cheap considering. But at the same time, the biggest concern is: is he right for Manchester United? Is he going to make us a team that’s going to challenge stronger for Champions League positions? I don’t know.

“He’s played a lot of games for Juventus recently, he was at Paris Saint-Germain, he’s a France international. But for me he’s obviously a step down from Frenkie de Jong.

“Rabiot coming in, I don’t think it’s as gloomy as everyone thinks. He adds quality, whether he ups the levels on what we’ve got remains to be seen.”
