The Zamfara State faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed displeasure over the attack on its secretariat in Gusau.

It called on security agencies to arrest the perpetrators behind the attack.

The party said the attack followed attacks on the residence of some of the party’s chieftains on Friday.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, said this in a statement made available to newsmen, on Monday, in Zamfara State capital, Gusau.

Gusau regretted that all furniture, glasses, doors and other property in the secretariat were looted by thugs during the Monday protest.

The statement read: “Recall that the APC on Friday, cautioned the PDP-led State government against allowing PDP thugs from venting their anger on the APC and its leaders following the attack on Senator Sahabi Ya’u’s residence in Kaura Namoda.

“They also attempted to raze down the immediate past governor and now minister, Matawalle’s residence in Gusau.

“The APC has also pleaded with both the State government and security agencies to ensure full protection of people’s lives and property.

“As we cautioned, the hoodlums have gone haywire, forcefully broke into the APC Secretariat situated along Sokoto Bye Pass Road, Gusau, destroyed the facility, including glasses, doors and carted away furniture and equipment, as well building materials that were kept in the office stores.

“They also looted the mini secretariat at the back of the main office, where all the furniture, computers and refrigerators and other valuables were carted away.

“We wish to categorically state that this action is unacceptable and condemnable.

“We are calling on the security agencies to immediately apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.

“Our members, supporters and well wishers have continued to remain peaceful and law abiding, but that is not a sign of weakness.”
