Yaman Shuaib Abdullahi, Kwara State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday, officially unveiled his running mate, Gbenga Peter Makanjuola for next year’s general elections in the state.
Unveiling the candidate at the party’s secretariat in Ilorin, the state capital, Yaman described Kwara as one of the most indebted states in the country with over N140b debts owed.
He promised to provide an all-inclusive government where everybody will be carried along in the governance of the state.
Yaman pledged to change the narrative when elected as the next governor of the state next year.
Yaman, who praised the national leader of the party, Dr Bukola Saraki for giving a positive leadership in the state, assured that the party will take over the reins of government in 2023 with the Government House as the next destination.
In his acceptance speech, Gbenga Makanjuola, thanked Yaman for the confidence reposed in him among the multitude of qualified party members and promised to justify it by working in harmony with the governorship candidate.
“I accept the opportunity offered me to work with you. We shall work together in harmony,” describing his choice as designed by God.
Gbenga called for the cooperation of party members in the state to ensure the victory of the party in the state in 2023.
Earlier, the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed, who presented the certificates of return to both the governorship candidate and his running mate, said primary elections of the party were held without rancour or crisis.
He explained that disagreements in a few areas occurred but we settled without resorting to the law courts.
While INEC’s form EC9 was presented to the governorship running mate, certificates of return were also presented to all the state and national Assembly candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections in the state by the governorship candidate and state chairman of the party.
