Ahmad El-Marzuq
Ahmad El-Marzuq, the former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed reports that he was forced to resign.
Recall that El-Marzuq had tendered his resignation on the eve of the APC National Caucus meeting held at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Following his resignation, reports circulated on social media that he was forced to do so.
However, the APC former National Legal Adviser has said his resignation was voluntary and nothing more.
Even though he refused to give further comment on the issue, he told The Punch that βIt was a voluntary resignation,β
Meanwhile, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) has denied reports that El-Marzuq was forced to resign.
The Deputy National Organising Secretary of the APC, Nze Chidi Duru, denied that it wasnβt so, saying the reports are untrue, adding that he was not sent out of the NEC meeting on Thursday.
Duru noted that βEl-Marzuq resigned from the NWC, and his letter was accepted by the party.
βForget what anybody might have told you that he was shut out at the NEC meeting. It is not true. El-Marzuq is a member of the body of life benchers. To be a life bencher in the legal profession is a strong position.
βIf anybody said he attempted to force his way to the meeting, it can only be in the realm of conjecture. He will not do such a thing. It is speculation. The party is working together. There is no division.β
