The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Anambra State, has canvassed stronger partnership with the media aimed at delivering transparent and successful results of the 2023 general elections.
The state’s INEC Administrative Secretary, Jude Okwuonu, made the call in Awka at a one-way sensitisation workshop, held for media practitioners in the state, on the Commission’s preparations towards the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
The workshop was attended by INEC Heads of Department (HODs) in the state, including the HOD of Voter Education and Publicity, George Edeani, HOD of Electoral Operations, Kingsley Anuforo, HOD of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Emeka Nnaji, HOD of Election and Party Monitoring (EPM), Emma Isong and HOD Legal Services, Sunday Nwegbeke.
Okwuonu maintained that the media has a critical role to play in both Nigeria’s democratic project and in its elections. He urged the media to strengthen its activities in areas of mobilising and educating the electorate towards participating in the elections.
