Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has sworn in new members to replace vacant positions in the National Working Committee (NWC).
The former Governor of Kano State performed the inauguration at the party’s National Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, at midnight on Friday.
Recall that the former APC Deputy Spokesperson, Murtala Ajaka, resigned from the party to pursue his gubernatorial ambition in the upcoming Kogi election in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Abubakar Kyari, who was the Deputy National Chairman (North), and Betta Edu, who was the National Women Leader, resigned from their posts to take up ministerial appointments.
While the party’s Vice-Chairman in the North-West, Salihu Lukman, and Ahmed El-Marzuk, who was the National Legal Adviser, both resigned from the NWC.
In a statement on X on Saturday, the party said Ali Bukar Dalori had replaced Kyari as the Deputy National Chairman (North), while Garba Datti Muhammad replaced Lukman as the Vice-Chairman (North-West).
It added that Abdul Karim Abubakar Kana replaced El-Marzuk as the party’s National Legal adviser, and Mary Alile Idele replaced Edu as the National Women Leader.
The statement said Ganduje charged the new NWC members to join efforts to achieve party reforms.
It reads: “The party has sworn in newly-elected members to fill vacant National Working Committee (NWC) and zonal positions.
“National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, during the inauguration at the National Secretariat on Friday, charged the new members to join efforts to achieve Party reforms.”
