The governorship campaigns of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in Enugu state, Mr Frank Nweke jr suffered a setback on Thursday as its Campaign Director General, Dr Chinweuba Onah resigned his appointment.
Chinweuba, a lawyer appointed on August 10 to coordinate the campaigns, said his decision to quit “with immediate effect” followed irreconcilable differences in how things were done, including ideologies.
Announcing his resignation in a letter he sent to Nweke, which he also made available to newsmen in Enugu, he told the governorship candidate that though his appointment letter clearly defined his role as Campaign Director General, but the “short time I had in this capacity was to say the least most awful as you didn’t seem to understand the huge political capital and enormous human resource advantage that were available to you.”
Chinweuba added: “Regrettably therefore, I write; resolved to most respectfully and thankfully tender my resignation as the Campaign Director General with immediate effect as it is crystal clear that we have irreconcilable differences in the way we see and do things including ideologies. Staying back any further would amount to distraction on both sides, hence the need for us as individuals to forge ahead in our various endeavors unhindered.
“I am compelled to take this hard and painful step, first to free you to deploy ready hands surrounding you more effectively in prosecuting your campaign, secondly and most importantly to preserve our most cherished neo relationship which is expected to survive this difficult decision.
“Please accept this resignation for whatever value you can make of it and be sure that you have the best assurances of my utmost regards and prayers as you go pursuing your dream to Enugu Lion Building – come 2023.
“Let me also thank you immensely for the uncommon opportunity extended to me in the first place to serve in the exalted but arduous capacity of Campaign Director General of one of the foremost political parties in Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general elections. Such opportunities don’t come too often and I can never take it for granted. I am bold to say that it was a great school time for me.”
