Ayodele Fayose, a former Governor of Ekiti State, has reacted to the victory of Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, in the Saturday’s election.
Fayose congratulated Tinubu on his emergence as Nigeria’s next president.
In a tweet, Fayose urged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to accept the outcome of the election.
Stressing that there is always another day, Fayose said Atiku should accept defeat in the interest of Nigerians.
In a tweet, he wrote: “I congratulate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his election as the next President of Nigeria.
“As the presidential election comes to an end, I urge other contestants, especially Atiku Abubakar to accept the outcome in the overall interest of our country. There will always be another day.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Tinubu winner of Saturday’s presidential election.
Tinubu secured a total of 8,794,726 votes, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) finished in second place with 6,984,520 votes.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third with 6,101,533 votes.
