Rahman Ogunlana, youth leader of the Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says the population of youths in the party was enough to ensure its victory at all levels in the forthcoming general elections if adequately utilised.

Mr Ogunlana said this while speaking on the number of youths that recently defected to the party from opposition political parties on Saturday in Abuja.

The youth leader attributed the development to the friendly disposition of Biyi Otegbeye, the party’s 2023 Ogun governorship candidate.

He advised the party’s leadership to effectively utilise its youth population ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to him, all the party needs is effective coordination and harmonisation of its various youth structures.

He, however, assured that because of the experience, character and exposure of Mr Otegbeye, the state’s youth league had resolved to rally support for him to ensure his electoral victory.

Mr Ogunlana added that the decision was taken at a recent meeting held in Abeokuta to discuss the party’s future, especially as it affected youths.

He said the youths at the meeting also resolved to consolidate and harmonise the party’s entire youth council in Ogun, which had over 300,000 youth structures.

Mr Ogunlana listed some of those at the meeting to include Balogun Khalil, special adviser to ADC national chairman on Youth, Strategy and Innovation; Afolabi Ibrahim, senatorial youth leader, Ogun Central and Olumide Onabajo, among others.

He quoted Folorunsho Joshua, the ADC Obafemi Owode local government area youth leader, as calling on other colleagues to ensure an open door policy and inclusion of all.
