Yellowstone will air its final episodes in November 2024.
According to an article by Variety, the second installment of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season will debut approximately one year from now, in November 2024. The first eight episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season were released from November 2022 through January 2023, with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes then slowing production on the remainder of the series.
Paramount has also greenlit two Yellowstone spin-off series, 1944 and 2044. Plot details are being kept secret about both series for the time being (1944 was initially reported to be in development in February 2023); although, the latter of the two is expected to feature both new and crossover characters, according to one individual close to the series.
“Within five years, we grew Yellowstone from a hit U.S. cable show with five million viewers into a global hit franchise with over 100 million fans around the world and multiple extensions – and, we’re just getting started,” said Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios president and CEO Chris McCarthy. “On the heels of 1883 and 1923’s’ success, our new planned spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, will take audiences on a thrilling, new and unexpected journey with the complex and compelling storytelling that has become a hallmark of the franchise and has helped turn it into a worldwide cultural phenomenon – thanks to the creative mastermind of Taylor Sheridan.”
In May 2023, Paramount Network officially announced Yellowstone was ending after the second part of its fifth season following reports that Kevin Costner was exiting the series. Costner is now working on a new western project, Horizon: An American Saga, which is expected to be a four-part movie series. Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 is currently dated for a June 28, 2024, theatrical release, while Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 2 follows on August 16, 2024.
