Jigsaw will return in Saw XI. In an interview with the LA Times, Tobin Bell revealed his plans to return as John Kramer in Saw XI.
“I’m really excited about continuing to develop him,” Bell said. “John Kramer is not done. There’s more to learn.”
Bell has appeared in nine of ten Saw films, with his most recent outing coming in 2023’s Saw X. Set between the events of Saw and Saw 2, Bell’s Kramer travels to Mexico for an experimental surgery that may cure his terminal cancer. However, the operation turns out to be a scam, so Kramer kidnaps those responsible for the scene and puts them through death traps.
Saw X was a return to form for the horror franchise and became a big hit, grossing over $111 million on a $13 million budget. Kramer credits the layered screenplays for elevating the Saw films.
“It’s all in the writing,” Bell explained. “It’s not all one guy outside the screen door with sidelight on him.”
Who is Involved in Saw XI Besides Tobin Bell?
After the success of Saw X, Lionsgate announced a sequel, Saw XI, in December 2023. The studio dated Saw XI for September 27, 2024.
Saw X director Kevin Greutert will return to direct Saw XI. Marcus Dunstan, who has co-written five Saw films, is writing the script for Saw XI. Oren Koules and Mark Burg will produce.
Plot details remain under wraps. Bell is the only actor from previous Saw installments who confirmed his return. When Saw XI hits theaters, it will mark 21 years since Saw premiered in 2004.
In April, Lionsgate shifted the release of Saw XI from September 27, 2024, to September 26, 2025.
