The Conners Is Getting an ‘Honest’ and ‘Dignified’ Ending

With The Conners coming to a close soon with Season 7, executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan promise a “very big” and a “dignified” ending to the beloved TV family.

The sixth season of the Roseanne spin-off has concluded with some big changes for the characters, which — according to the EPS — will set the stage for the abbreviated seventh season. In an interview with The Wrap, Helford and Caplan shared how they want the hit sitcom to end.

“I think we’d like to give a really honest, and I’ll say dignified end to the arcs of all these characters, and the journey that they’ve all been on. We’ve always treated the show with a feeling that there’s a sense of nobility in working hard to try to get ahead,” said Caplan. “We feel like we really owe it to these characters to pay that off in a way that is honest, and that says something about what their journeys have amounted to.”

When is The Conners Season 7 coming out?

No exact release date has been set yet for the final season, but it is expected to arrive in 2025. As is the case with previous seasons, Helford added that they’d make the seventh season— which will only consist of six episodes — “as realistic as possible.” He also told The Wrap: “A lot of comedies are fun and that’s great, there’s a place for that. But this show has always been about the bond we’ve had with the audience, and that we will present these things in an honest way… So anything can happen, and will, in the last six episodes.”

Caplan stated that the ABC sitcom’s last six episodes will be “a very big event” for the network. Helford then revealed that they’d start writing Season 7 this July and would probably start production sometime in August.

“After a sudden turn of events, the Conner family is forced to face the daily struggles of life in a way they never have before. This iconic family continues to demonstrate that laughter, conversation and love can overcome anything,” the official synopsis for The Conners reads.

The series stars John Goodman as Dan, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie, Sara Gilbert as Darlene, Lecy Goranson as Becky, Emma Kenney as Harris, Michael Fishman as D.J., Ames McNamara as Mark, Jayden Rey as Mary, Jay R. Ferguson as Ben, and more.

Episodes of The Conners are available to stream on Hulu and Netflix.
