According to The Hollywood Reporter, global superstar Taylor Swift has halted negotiations for the streaming rights to The Eras Tour concert movie, following its record-breaking theatrical debut. Swift and her team are reportedly waiting for the SAG-AFTRA strike to end before starting to talk with the streaming platforms. Once negotiations formally finally begin, it’s expected to ignite a bidding war among streamers.

The Eras Tour Concert Movie Dominates the Box Office

Since its theatrical debut last Oct. 13, The Eras Tour concert movie has already earned an impressive worldwide gross of over $178 million. Because of this, it immediately broke a box office record by becoming the highest-grossing concert film of all time, beating 2011’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. It also currently holds a near-perfect Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 70 reviews.

Described as Swift’s “most meaningful, electric experience,” The Eras Tour movie hails from Emmy-winning filmmaker Sam Wrench. He has already directed several concert films and music documentaries, including Mary J. Blige: The London Sessions, Mumford & Sons: We Wrote This Yesterday, and BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA.

In The Eras Tour, Swift brings her fans on a musical journey where she goes through each of ten studio albums, including her self-titled debut album, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. After completing the first North American leg’s 53 sold-out shows from March 17 through August 9, Swift is currently touring Latin America, including Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil, which is expected to last until November 26. In 2024, the global superstar will be taking her Eras Tour to Asia and Europe.
