Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen recently shared his experience of meeting co-star Ewan McGregor for the first time. Christensen portrayed adult Anakin Skywalker in the prequel Star Wars films directed by George Lucas, while McGregor played his Jedi master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The duo developed a great bond while filming the movies.
Recounting the first meeting with Ewan McGregor on the set of Star Wars, Hayden Christensen confessed, “The first time I met Ewan was in Australia. I remember walking into the hair and makeup room, and he came over and gave me a big hug. Right away I knew that I was standing in front of a friend.”
Speaking to Variety about his friendship with McGregor, Christensen highlighted how the Scottish actor kept everyone’s spirits up during the filming of The Phantom Menace: “He really took me under his wing. It’s easy to get caught up in the technicalities of making those films. But he always just brought it back to the emotional aspect of what we were doing.”
Christensen further expressed his desire to work on more Star Wars projects to have a potential reunion with McGregor again. The duo recently worked together on Obi-Wan Kenobi, which hit Disney+ in 2022. Talking about the possibility of more projects related to the show, he stated, “I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”
“If it means that I got to do more with Ewan, then that’s a no-brainer, but I really hope that he continues with the character. Just as a fan, it’s so exciting to get to watch him play Obi-Wan — he’s just so good at it,” he asserted.
