As part of Disney’s 100th anniversary celebration, the House of Mouse will officially be releasing a special restored and remastered edition of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the company’s first ever animated feature. This marks the first time the iconic movie will be released in stunning 4K Ultra HD.
The remastered version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be available for purchase on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on October 10. The Disney100 edition comes in a special collectible O-sleeve, while Best Buy and Walmart are offering a number of retail exclusives including a special Steelbook and a collectible pin, respectively.
“The beautiful and kindhearted princess Snow White charms every creature in the kingdom except one — her jealous stepmother, the Queen,” reads the synopsis. “When the Magic Mirror proclaims Snow White is the fairest one of all, she must flee into the forest, where she befriends the lovable seven dwarfs — Doc, Sneezy, Grumpy, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy and Dopey. But when the Queen tricks Snow White with an enchanted apple, only the magic of true love’s kiss can save her!”
Inspired by the Brothers Grimm’s 1812 fairy tale, the original film was directed by David Hand, Perce Pearce, William Cottrell, Larry Morey, Wilfred Jackson, and Ben Sharpsteen. It featured the voices of Adriana Caselotti as Snow White and Lucille La Verne as the Evil Queen. Disney is currently working on a live-action remake of the animated classic, with Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot leading the project. The film is expected to arrive in theaters on March 22, 2024.
