With Season 2 of The Rings of Power making its way to Amazon Prime Video, many are excited to see Elrond, Galadriel, and others returning to screens. But along with the fan-favorite characters, Season 2 also promises much bigger battle sequences that take place over longer periods than before.
Robert Aramayo’s Elrond is set to play a major role in Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and will take part in an extended battle that lasts for weeks. The following image revealed in Empire’s latest issue teases his arc:
The image displays Elrond’s new Elven armor, which he will wear in one of Season 2’s battles as the series doubles down on the violence seen in the first season.
The Rings of Power Season 2 to feature grand multi-episode battle
Co-showrunner Patrick McKay and producing director Charlotte Brändström teased that the upcoming war in The Rings of Power Season 2 will be even bigger than Season 1’s brawl in the Southlands.
Talking to Empire, McKay said:
“We love a good battle. The plan with Season 2 would be to do something much bigger, on a much grander scale that would take place not just overnight, but over multiple days, weeks, months, and episodes.”
Brändström further explained that the scale of the fight will be “ten times bigger” than what we saw in the past. Describing the premise, he added:
“It’s really the battle of the darkness against the light, with some very dark and quite violent moments.”
The massive sequence will raise the threat level of Sauron’s new guise, Annatar, as Elrond and the other heroes unite against him.
The Rings of Power returns with its second season on August 29, 2024, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The series stars Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Owain Arthur as Durin IV, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, and Ema Horvath as Earien alongside Aramayo’s Elrond.
