Prehistoric Planet Season 2 Sets Apple TV+ Release Date

Apple TV+ has confirmed that Jon Favreau’s documentary series Prehistoric Planet will officially come back for a second season, which is scheduled to debut five new episodes in a week-long event starting on May 22.

The renewal comes after nearly a year since it made its first season debut, which was well-received by critics with a critics score rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The award-winning first season of Prehistoric Planet brought dinosaurs back to life in a way global audiences had never seen before,” Apple TV+ creative director Jay Hunt said in a statement. “Collaborating with the brilliant Jon Favreau and our fantastic partners at the BBC, we are thrilled that viewers will once again have the opportunity to be immersed in our world as it was 66 million years ago and to experience even more weird and wonderful creatures.”

Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, Prehistoric Planet is a groundbreaking series that will transport viewers 66 million years in the past to discover our world – and the dinosaurs that roamed it – all in stunning detail and set to an original score by multiple Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer. It combines award-winning wildlife filmmaking, the latest paleontology learnings and state-of-the-art technology to unveil the spectacular habitats and inhabitants of ancient Earth for a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.

The docuseries is executive produced by Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton. It is a production by BBC Studios Natural History Unit, the team behind the acclaimed Planet Earth documentary.
