The first trailer for Pet Sematary: Bloodlines has been released.
Paramount Plus has finally posted the first trailer for Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which releases in October 2023, on YouTube. The film, directed and co-written by Lindsey Anderson Beer, serves as a prequel to 2019’s Pet Sematary, which was based on the 1983 novel by Stephen King.

“In 1969, a young Jud Crandall is set to leave his hometown of Ludlow, Maine in search of his life’s purpose,” the synopsis reads. “Before he makes it out, however, Jud and his childhood friends encounter an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding.”
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines stars Jackson White as Jud Crandall. Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabella Star LaBlanc, Pam Grier, David Duchovny, and Samantha Mathis also star. The script was co-written by Beer (this marking her feature film directorial debut) and Jeff Buhler, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian serving as producers.
In King’s novel, Jud Crandall is Louis Creed’s elderly neighbor residing in Ludlow, Maine. Jud first introduces Louis to the pet “sematary” hidden away in the woods behind his house and tells him about how the ancient burial ground has supernatural abilities to resurrect the dead. Jud is later killed when Louis’ son (the 2019 remake diverted from the source material and saw Louis’ daughter, Ellie, die instead), Gage, dies, is buried, and then comes back to life as a demonic entity.
Pet Sematary was first adapted into a movie directed by Mary Lambert in 1989, which was followed by 1992’s Pet Sematary II. The 2019 Pet Sematary remake was directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer. It starred Jason Clarke as Louis, Amy Seimetz as Louis’ wife Rachel, John Lithgow as Jud, Jeté Laurence as Ellie, and Hugo and Lucas Lavoie as Gage.
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines releases exclusively on Paramount Plus on October 6, 2023.
