Apple TV+ has officially announced the Palm Royale Season 2 renewal for its latest star-studded period comedy series, starring Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig.
The Palm Royale Season 2 announcement comes after a month since Season 1 had wrapped up its 10-episode run on Apple TV+. At the moment, the first installment currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 55%, and an Audience score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“We are so thrilled to hear about season two,” executive producer Laura Dern said in a statement. “Jayme and I (with Jaywalker Pictures) have been dreaming up this project for so long in hopes that audiences would have delicious fun with the radical ride that is the world of ‘Palm Royale.’ We all can’t wait to get started!”
Palm Royale is written and executive produced by showrunner Abe Sylvia, loosely based on Julie McDaniel’s Mr. and Mrs. American Pie novel. The series also stars Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, and Kaia Gerber, with Laura Dern and Allison Janney. Season 1 also featured special appearances from Bruce Dern and Carol Burnett. Besides Laura Dern, Wiig, Jayme Lemons, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Tate Taylor, John Norris, Sharr White, Rock Shaink, Sheri Holman, and Boat Rocker are also executive producing.
“Set during the powder keg year of 1969, Palm Royale is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong,” reads the Season 1 logline. “It tells a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Palm Royale asks the same question that still baffles us today: ‘How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?’”
