The newest entry in the Jurassic World franchise is getting another big star, with two-time Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali set to star in the film.
According to THR, Ali will join the previously reported Scarlett Johansson as one of the leads in the project. Ali most recently appeared in the 2023 Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind, and has also starred in starred in a number of high-profile projects, including Green Book and Moonlight, two films which earned him Best Supporting Actor Oscars.
Ali will join a cast that continues to grow with some big names. Alongside Johansson and Ali, the new Jurassic World is set to feature Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manual Garcia-Rulfo in Gareth Edwards’ latest movie.
As it stands, there are no plot details on the as-yet-untitled Jurassic World 4. All we have is the promise of it being set in a new era and containing an all-new storyline.
The new Jurassic World movie is written by Jurassic Park’s David Koepp. Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Patrick Crowley are the executive producers of the film. Director Gareth Edwards will likely be a safe pair of hands for this latest entry in the franchise. He’s heavily entrenched in both sci-fi and monster movies in the past with Godzilla, Monsters, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and 2023’s The Creator.
Jurassic World 4 will be the seventh entry in the franchise and is currently set to hit US theaters on July 2, 2025.
