Indian Matchmaking has become a phenomenon of its own with Netflix presenting a new version of dating shows in the form of Indian Wedding reality shows.

With fans taking to Twitter in the form of memes as they pitch in their reactions to the outrageous comments made on the show. Indian Matchmaking is highly controversial but since it explores the Indian culture, it has garnered a lot of interest worldwide over the course of its first season.

What is Indian Matchmaking about?

Indian Matchmaking is a reality television show that premiered on Netflix in 2020. The show follows the journey of Indian aspiring brides and groups from Mumbai as well as some other parts of the state in India as well as NRI’s from the United States of America.

With the matchmaking guru – Sima Taparia managing clients both in Mumbai, India as well as all of the United States, the show explores how 30–40-year-old adults resort to arranged marriages after not being able to find any luck finding love on their own.

The Emmy-nominated show has now turned into a phenomenon as of March this year, Netflix also announced that the franchise is expanding with a Jewish version of the show titled, ‘Jewish Matchmaking’. Has Indian Matchmaking been renewed for season 3?

As of March 2022, the show Indian Matchmaking has already been renewed for a third season. While talking about the upcoming third season of the show Sima told Variety:

“The love I’ve gotten from the fans of the show has been wonderful. Matchmaking is my passion, and it’s a joy to share my work with audiences around the world. Sima from Mumbai is back!”

The final few minutes of Indian Matchmaking Season 2 revealed how Sima has set foot in the United Kingdom and is now going to expand her business to the British-Indian clients seeking potential soulmates.

What we know about Indian Matchmaking Season 3 so far:

So far, we don’t know anything more about Season 3 of Indian Matchmaking other than the last few seconds of Season 2 Episode 8 of the show.

The season finale introduced fans to Priya, a new UK-Based client of Sima who lists her criteria for the matchmaker to start working her magic wand over. Though Netflix has not officially released a date of release for the third season of Indian Matchmaking, the show could premiere anywhere between the next few months to the year 2023.

Academy Award nominee Smriti Mundhra who is also the creator and executive producer of the show shares her feelings about the reception of the show. She says,

“The response to Season 1 of ‘Indian Matchmaking’ was overwhelming, and we’re thrilled to be back with more episodes that explore the rollercoaster of emotions and tough conversations on the journey to finding love.”
